13WMAZ Visits Ridge Road Elementary STEAM Students

Updated: Nov 22, 2019

On October 30, 2019 13WMAZ visited Ridge Road Elementary to learn about a project that the they developed for the STEAMIFY competition in Augusta. The students shared their project with Pepper Baker, reporter for 13WMAZ.

The group came up with a plan to streamline the transportation to and from school to positively impact student achievement. The students interviewed Mr. Willie Coneway, the director of transportation. Then they began to research. They learned how many stops each bus made in each city of Washington County. They brainstormed many options, but finally came up with making fewer stops and having bus stops. The children stated that many times a bus stopped multiple times on the same road, and if they had 1 or 2 stops it would make the process more efficient.

Pepper Baker’s segment aired at 5pm & 6pm on October 30th. The footage can still be viewed on the news channel’s website.
