Updated: Feb 4, 2020

Sandra McMaster, the Finance Director of the Washington County Board of Education, has been recognized by the Georgia Association of School Business Officials as an Outstanding School Business Official. This prestigious award is given to someone who exemplifies professionalism, leadership, and innovation in the field of school business management.

The Georgia Association of School Business Officials creates a committee and reviews nominations. After reviewing many applications, they make their selection. The award has previously been earned by Assistant Superintendents, Chief Financial Officers, Directors of Budgets and Accounting and more.

Upon making their selection, the comment was made that the decision was unanimous and that Mrs. McMaster’s application stood out among the rest. Mrs. McMaster is credited with establishing and implementing policies for the Finance Department and School Bookkeepers.

Under her watchful eye, the Washington County Board of Education has received the department of Audits and Accounts Award of Distinction for Excellence in Financial Reporting for six consecutive years. Mrs. McMaster’s contributions have enabled the board to voluntarily vote to reduce taxes below the required roll back rate for the first time in over 15 years.
